RACE RULES:
GENERAL RACE RULES
- The race is run in accordance with the rules of ASA and AGN.
- The entrants will participate under the rules of ASA and AGN and it is the entrants responsibility to familiarise themselves with the rules.
- Athletes participate at their own risk and indemnify the organisers, sponsors and national and provincial bodies against any claims that may arise.
- Race organisers, sponsors and venue managers will not be responsible for any theft or damage of personal items, nor injury or death sustained during the race.
- Licensed athletes must wear their ASA 2025 licence numbers on the front and the back of their vests when participating in the 10km.
- Unlicensed athletes in the 10km must purchase a temporary licence and wear it on the back of the vest.
- Race numbers must be worn on the front. The race number must not cover the logo on the ASA licence number.
- Athletes competing for age category prizes must display the official numerical age category tags on the front and the back of their vest.
- A temporary licence is not required for the 5km challenge. The Race number must be worn on the front of the vest in the 5km challenge.
- Minimum ages for participants in the 10km race is 14 years.
- Category winners must provide proof of age to qualify for prizes.
- Marshals and Traffic Officials must be obeyed at all times. Failure to comply with their instructions may lead to immediate disqualification.
- No seconding is allowed during the race.
- No IPods or listening devices are allowed in the race.
- No Blade, Bicycle or mechanically operated device will be allowed in the race.
- Entry fees will not be refunded, returned, cancelled or exchanged on account of the weather or any unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the event organisers.
- Cut-off times 5km and 10km 2 hours.
- No animals are allowed at the stadium or to take part in the race.
- There will be a refreshment point at 3km intervals along the route.
- Medical support and tog bag facilities will be available.
- International athletes must abide by the IAAF rule 4.2. which states that they must provide a clearance letter from the Athletics Federation of their country of origin to be eligible for a prize.
- Men are allowed to participate in the challenge but will not be eligible for any prizes. They will however receive a goodie bag.
- Men finishing the 10km event during the period when the ladies category winners are being identified will be diverted into a separate finishing area.
GENERAL EVENT INDEMNITY AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY
BY REGISTERING TO ENTER AND/OR ATTEND THE EVENT, YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
By participating in, attending, or being present at the SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane (“the Event”) — including any pre- or post-race activities within the stadium, on the race routes, or in the surrounding areas — you voluntarily, knowingly, and freely assume and accept all risks associated with the Event. This includes risks to yourself, as well as to any children, family members, or friends accompanying you. These risks include, but are not limited to, your own actions or inactions, and those of other participants, spectators, organising body, event officials, marshals, assistants, volunteers, sponsors, agents or volunteers.
Each participant, spectator, and/or guest acknowledges that they attend and/or participate entirely at their own risk and agree that they shall have no claim whatsoever against the organising body, event officials, marshals, assistants, volunteers, sponsors, agents, volunteers, local authorities, or landowners in respect of any injury, illness, loss, damage, or expense that they may suffer or incur, regardless of how it may arise.
All entrants agree that the information they have supplied is true and correct. That they are in good health, are physically fit and trained to participate in and understand the risks associated with the event. They agree to abide by all the rules and conditions of the event and accept that they enter and participate at their own risk and fully indemnify the organisers, THE SPAR GROUP, all sponsors and partners, volunteer groups, medical personnel and any or all other parties from any direct or indirect loss of damage, however caused, arising from their participation in the event, or related to the event. They grant permission in terms of section 51 of the electronics communication transactions act 25 of 2002, to use their name, race information, photographs, video tapes, broadcasts, telecasts in which they may appear free of charge. They accept that their personal information will remain confidential and consent to same being shared with the parties involved in the organization of the event for purposes of registration, timing, medical care, rankings, and other activities related to the promotion of the event. They grant permission for their personal details to be shared with relevant partners for specific orders that they have subscribed to. They understand that entry fees are non-refundable.
Medical Consent
You consent to receive emergency medical treatment from event medical staff, personnel, or first responders if required. You accept full responsibility for any medical expenses incurred as a result of participation or attendance, for yourself and any minors or dependants under your care.
Photo and Media Release
By attending or participating in the Event, you consent to and grant the organisers, sponsors, and affiliated media unrestricted permission to capture, use, and distribute photographs, video, or audio recordings of you and any minors or dependants accompanying you. This includes use for promotional, marketing, or media purposes, without compensation or further approval.
Force Majeure / Event Cancellation
You acknowledge that the Event may be postponed, cancelled, or altered due to circumstances beyond the control of the organisers, including but not limited to inclement weather, natural disasters, public health concerns, government restrictions, safety risks, or any act of God. In such instances, the organisers shall not be held liable for any loss or inconvenience, and no refunds, credits, or compensation shall be due.
Minors and Guardian Consent
If you are registering on behalf of a minor (under the age of 18), you hereby confirm that you are the legal guardian of such minor and approve to the terms and conditions contained herein on their behalf. You consent to the minor being bound by the foregoing terms and, to the extent that such minor is not legally capable of waiving their rights as stipulated herein, you further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the aforementioned parties against any claims arising from or related to the minor’s attendance and/or participation and/or or presence at the Event.
POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) Consent
In terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”), you consent to the collection, processing, and storage of your personal information by the Event organisers for purposes directly related to your registration, participation, and communication regarding the Event. Your information will be handled securely and will not be shared with third parties except as required for the operation and promotion of the Event, or where legally obligated. If you do not wish to provide us with your information, are unable to do so, or object to it being used, it may result in us being unable to process your entry. For purposes related to your entry, and for those purpose only, we may share this information with third parties. You have the right to access this information while in our possession and make corrections if necessary. You also have the right to lodge a complaint via email with the office of the Information Regulator, at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za, if you are unhappy with the manner in which we deal with your information.

By registering, attending and/or participating in the event you acknowledge that you understand and agree to be legally bound by its terms, including those on behalf of any minors in your care.
